A native of Matuskovo, Czechoslovakia, Jan Novota is a professional football goalkeeper who plays for the Debreceni VSC and Slovak national team. He started his youth career with OFC Matúškovo in 1993 and was promoted to the senior team in 2002.

Early life

Jan Novota was born on 29th of November 1983, in Matyskovo, Czechoslovakia. His ancestors were from Hungary and he too speaks Hungarian with his family. His birth sign is Sagittarius.

Novota started playing football at the very tender age of 10 for OFC Matuskovo. At 14, he switched to Galanta where he remained until 1999 and played for Senec youth team from 1999-2002.

Club Career

In 2002, Novota signed a contract with VTJ Sturovo where he stayed till 2005 but didn’t make an appearance for the club.

In 2005, Novota moved to Senec, signing a three-year contract. He made total 28 appearances for the club. After the expiration of his contract, he joined Dunajska Streda. Subsequently, playing two seasons for the club, he moved to Panserraikos in 2010 but didn’t play a single league match.

The following year, Novota signed with Dunajska Streda. He played 15 league games for the club and then moved to Rapid Wien. Throughout his 5 seasons in the club, he played 96 league games representing Rapid Wien.

Currently, he is signed to Debrecen since 2017 but has not played any matches so far.

National Career

On 23rd may 2014, Jan Novota made his international team debut with Slovakia National Team in a 2-0 win against Montenegro. Till date, he has won 4 caps for his country.

He is a good friend of his national teammates Jakub Sylvestr, Lukas Pauschek, and Robert Pich

Personal life

Thirty-three years old star Slovak goalkeeper, Novota is married as he mentioned about her in an interview after he farewelled SK Rapid. He told that his wife loved to be in Vienna as it was ner to her parents' house.

The couple also has two children who are currently studying in the Kindergarten.

Jan Novota is a tall man with the height of 1.99 m/ 6 feet 2 inches and weighs 94 kg.
