The young Hunter Harvey's baseball career was initiated on June 20, 2013, after the Baltimore Orioles selected him in the first round of the 2013 Major League Baseball draft. Later, he made his debut playing for the Gulf Coast Orioles team.

In August 2013, he got promoted to the Class A-Short Season New York-Penn League's Aberdeen IronBirds baseball team. With the promotion, his games and skills also improved, and he managed to impress a lot of people. 

Later, he played for the Delmarva Shorebirds and recorded a stat of 7-5 and 3.18 ERA in 17 games that he started with the team. Unfortunately, Harvey's journey got blocked for a long time when he suffered tightness in his elbow. To recover from that injury, he went through a Tommy John surgery.

After recovering fully, which took almost two years, Baltimore Orioles added him to their 2017 roster. However, he didn't play for the team as he got assigned to Class AA Eastern League's Bowie Baysox team. He spent the 2017-18 season and amassed a 1–2 record with a 5.57 ERA in his nine starts.

On August 17, 2019, he finally got the chance to play in the major leagues for Baltimore Orioles. When he made his MLB debut against the Boston Red Sox, he utilized the moment to his favor and impressed the team. In the next game against Kansas City Royals, he gave his best, and the team won.

Harvey continued his impressive form and pitched to a 4.15 ERA with 6 strikeouts in 10 games in the 2020 season. After making such a crucial impact, everyone thought that he would be a great baseball player. But, on March 16, 2021, he suffered an oblique strain and was out of the game for 60-days.
