Theo Bongonda fond of playing football since his childhood played in the JMG Academy in 2008 at the age of 13. He played in the academy for 5 years and got the eye of Belgian Pro League team SV Zulte Waregem and was signed in the youth team in January 2013.

Making his winning debut against KFC VW Hamme on September 25, 2013, Theo soon got to play in the senior team of Zulte Waregem and made his first professional goal on January 15, 2014, against Cercle Brugge KSV, however, they lost the game.

Later, Theo signed a 4-year contract with Celta de Vigo on January 9, 2015, and with his appearance in 30 games while in Celta de Vigo, Theo Bongonda scored 5 goals. With the due 2 years contract, Celta made loan transfer deal of Theo Bongonda with Trabzonspor on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy. 

On January 24, 2018, Theo made his return to Celta after the end of successful loan transfer, but another transfer was waiting for him. Theo again was transferred to Zulte Waregem on January 26, 2018, with a deal of half-season loan transfer which will end on June 30, 2018.
