While with the Italian side, he moved to EFL football club, Barnsley on 14 August 2009 and scored his official recorded goal against Newcastle United in the December 2009 as his previous goal against Plymouth Argyle was canceled due to poor condition.
He was loaned again by Reggina to Italian side, Verona on 31 August 2010 and was a regular player and played a decisive role in helping Vernova to Serie B promotion.
For his outstanding performances for the team, he won the Mastino del Bentegodi award for the side’s player of the year.
He is currently playing for Italian football club, Udinese whom he joined on 30 January 2018 and signed an official contract that will see him play until June of 2018.
After playing for Iceland in the U17, U18 and U21levels, he made his debut with the senior team of Iceland in 2005 and scored his first international goal for Iceland against Spain on 8 September 2007 during 2008 Euro Cup Qualifier.
He along with Kari Arnason, Johann Berg Gudmundsson, and Hjortur Hermannsson were among the Icelandic football players that reached the quarterfinal rounds of UEFA Euro 2016 Championships held at France.
