Du Wei is a Chinese professional football player who currently plays as a central defender for the Chinese professional club Guizhou Hengfeng Zhicheng F.C. on loan from Hebei China Fortune in the Chinese Super League.

Early Life

Du Wei was born on 9 February 1982, in Luoyang, Henan, China to a Chinese family. Talking about his nationality, he holds a Chinese Citizenship. He began to play football at the age of 13, joining the youth academy of Shanghai Cable 02.

Club Career

Du Wei began his professional footballing career in 2002, joining the Chinese professional club Shanghai Shenhua. He won the Chinese Super League title with his team in his second season with the club. He missed most of the games in 2005 season through injury and the team dramatically missed his services, finishing tenth in the league. He was further sent on a loan to the English Premier League's club Celtic in 2006.

He signed a six-month contract with the club making his professional debut for the club on 9 January 2006, in a match against Clyde. He was sent back to his team after his contract with the club was ended. His eight successive season with Shanghai Shenhua ended up with a total of 159 appearances and 12 goals.

He then made his move to Shandong Luneng in 2012. The move was officially completed on 3 July 2012 and made his debut for the club on 7 July 2012, in a match against Guizhou Renhe. He was in the club for two years making a total of 42 appearances and scoring 6 goals. He further joined the China League One side Hebei China Fortune on 15 February 2015. He was again sent on a loan to Guizhou Zhicheng on 27 June 2017. He still plays for the club.

International Career

Du Wei has represented his national side in both junior and senior levels. He was the captain of his Chinese U-20 national team. His performance within the tournament earned him the "Asian Young Footballer of the Year award". He made his official senior team debut on 5 August 2001, in a match against Trinidad and Tobago. He has won 71 caps for his national side scoring 4 goals.
