Douglas dos Santos Justino de Melo is a Brazilian footballer who is better known as Douglas Santos or simply Douglas. He currently plays for Hamburger SV as a left back. Santos is a married man.
Douglas Santos was born on 22nd of March 1994, in Joao Pessoa, Brazil, as Douglas dos Santos Justino de Melo. He holds a Brazilian nationality and belongs to the African ethnicity. Since his childhood, Santos had a keen interest in football, and at the age of fifteen, he began playing football professionally with Nautico FC.
In 2012, Douglas Santos signed with Nautico, a Brazilian sports club, including a professional football squad, based in Recife, Pernambuco. For the club, Santos made his team debut in a 2-0 home win against Central FC on 15th of February 2012 and scored his first ever professional goal, the second of a 3-1 home victory against Belo Jardim on the 26th.
On 18th of July, Santos made his Serie A debut, in a 3-0 win against Ponte Preta. On 10th October, he scored his first top-flight goal, in a 1-2 away defeat in opposition to club Ponta Preta.
On 12th of July 2013, Douglas Santos signed a five-year contract with Granda CF. Further on 2nd of September, he joined “Udinese Calcio” on a season-long loan contract.
However, on 20th of July 2015, he signed with Galo permanently for three million, under a four-year deal.
On 31st of August 2016, Santos signed a contract for Hamburger SV, a German sports club based in Hamburg.
After being featured with the U-20’s in 2013 Toulon Tournament, Santos called for the full squad on 2nd of April 2013, for a match against Bolivia.
On 13th of August 2015, he made his appearance in the senior squad for a friendly match against Costa Rica and the United States.
