Danny Ford graduated from Gadsden High School in 1996 in Gadsden, before attending the University of Alabama. He also did his masters degree in special education from Alabama University before being an assistant coach for Alabama and Virginia Tech.
In 1978, Danny joined the team Clemson Tigers and at his first appearance, he led his team to the 1978 Gator Bowl defeating the Ohio State. Similarly, in 1981, Danny led Tigers to achieve first national title in the school’s 98-year history by defeating Nebraska in the 1982 Orange Bowl.
