Claudio Reyna is a retired American soccer player and currently serves as the director of football operations of New York City FC. He was the captain the United States men’s national team before retiring from the international soccer in 2006. He is widely recognized one of the greatest players of United States has ever been produced. Claudio Reyna was born on July 20, 1973, in Livingston, New Jersey, United States. Early life

From an early age, Claudio Reyna has shown huge interest towards the soccer and learned the game of soccer from his father. He attended Benedict’s Preparatory School, where he played football. He graduated in 1991. Upon graduation, he accepted the full athletic scholarship from the University of Virginia. At Virginia, he played from 1991 to 1993. Due to his performance, he was honored by the 1992 and 1993 Soccer America Player of the Year.

Professional Career

Claudio Reyna started his professional career in 1994 by playing with Bayer Leverkusen. While playing for Leverkusen, he played as a loan to VfL Wolfsburg. He played the majority of his career with Manchester City from 2003-2007. Prior to Manchester, he played with Rangers from 1999 to 2001 and Sunderland from 2001 to 2003. He last played for New York Red Bulls from 2007 to 2008.

Internationally, he has 8 goals in 112 apps. He represented his nation at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

Currently, Claudio Reyna serves as a Sporting Director of MLS Expansion team New York City F.C.

Claudio Reyna married her girlfriend Danielle Egan. His wife Danielle is a retired American soccer player. She played 6 times for the United States women’s national soccer team. They have four children together. Her son Jack who was born in 1999 died of cancer in 2012.

The goal of the organization is to provide soccer training to youth and needy youth around the nation and abroad. On Feb 9, 2012, he was elected to the National Soccer Hall of the Fame.
