Gerard Pique has announced his retirement from club football. He optioned to post the announcement through his Instagram post with a video compiled with photos of his journey from a child to a Barcelona legend. Pique will play his last Camp Nou game on Saturday against Almeria in La Liga.
"The last few weeks, months, people have been talking about me,"
"Until now, I have not said anything, but now I want to be the one talking about me."
Pique said in a video posted across social media.
Under Pep Guardiola, he was part of the side that won the treble in the 2008-09 season. He will depart, having won eight LaLiga titles, three Champions Leagues, and several other trophies. The player also won the World Cup in 2010 and the 2012 European Championship. He announced his international retirement shortly after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
This heart-shattering news comes less than four months after his split from his longtime partner, Shakira.
