Alessio Sakara was born on September 2, 1981, in Rome, Italy. He is of Italian nationality and has a European ethnic background.
Initially, Sakara was interested in soccer but later his mind diverted towards boxing and went to train under several tutors such as Roberto Almeida for his Brazilain Jiu-jitsu training. He also began training in boxing at the age of 11.
Sakara made his professional MMA debut in 2002 and had a wonderful record of 13 wins and 3 losses before joining the famous American MMA promotion, Ultimate Fighting Championships.
Alessio Sakara made his UFC debut against Ron Faircloth at the UFC event, UFC 55 but the contest was declared as no result due to an inside leg kick to Sakara's groin. Sakara later had a match against Elvis Sinosic at UFC 57 and won his first UFC victory by a unanimous decision.

Alessio Sakara later signed with Bellator MMA in November 2015 and made his debut against Brian Rogers on April 16, 2016, at the event, Bellator 152 and won through a KO in the second round. He faced off against Rafael Carvalho for the Bellator Middleweight Championship at the Bellator 190 that was contested on December 9, 2017, but he lost the bout.
Sakara's recent match was against Jamie Sloane on July 14, 2018, and he won via a TKO in the first round. His next fight is yet to be announced. Sakara has a record of 20 wins and 12 losses in his MMA career so far. The MMA fighter currently fights alongside Phil Davis, Ryan Bader and Vadim Nemkov in the lightweight division of Bellator MMA.
