World Cup 2018 is shaking all with surprises, the 4th match of the knockout stage Croatia vs Denmark resulted in the tears of happiness to Croatia as they headed towards quarterfinals while dim faced Denmark packed their bags to head home. Croatia often regarded as the underdogs made all to evidence the miracle in the penalty shootout of 3-2 after playing a 1-1 draw in the 90 minutes match against Denmark.

Croatia will be facing Russia in quarterfinals, the team who tore apart Spain's dream to the glory in the knockout stage yesterday, July 1. 

Already, the prominent teams like Argentina, Portugal, and Spain being out of the league, the World Cup 2018 is indicated to be a golden opportunity for the underdog teams, or we may say the magicians.

Match Review

The world witnessed one of the best matches of the World Cup 2018 when Croatia took 1-1 with Denmark in the pre-quarterfinals. The match started with an enthusiastic start as Denmark's Mathias Jorgensen scored in the first minute of the kick-off start, then in the 4th minute, Croatia got a shoutout after Croatian Mario Mandzukic equalized the score.

Till the 90 minutes of the game where Croatia and Denmark held 54% and 46% ball possession respectively, none of the team was able to net the goal despite vigorous attempts.

The match went in the extra time, however, Croatian midfielder Luka Modric could utilize the penalty to led Croatia's win, leading to the penalty shootout.

Penalty Shootout

After Denmark's Eriksen and Croatia's Badelj missed their attempts, Denmark opened up a score with Simon Kjaer's penalty, being equalized with Kramaric's score for Croatia.

Michale Krohn-Delhi's goal counted on while Croatian Luka Modric's this time made to the net making a 2-2 score. Later, 2 attempts from Denmark's Schone and Jorgensen missed out while 1 miss recorded from Croatian side Pivaric. 

As a whole, Danijel Subasic saved 3 Denmark penalties, while Schmeichel made 2 saves of Croatia, which made the match to be ' Croatia's goal= win' condition. The win favored the Croatian side after Ivan Rakitic scored the winning penalty shootout for Croatia carrying up to the quarterfinals.
