South Korea Republic National Football Team represents South Korea in the international football competitions and is governed by Korea Football Association. Korea is the most successful nation in the FIFA world cup having played 10 world cup editions so far with 9 consecutively.

South Korea is the only Asian nation to have played the semi-finals of the FIFA world cup so far when they co-hosted in 2002. The team was also able to reach the round of 16 of the 2010 World Cup. They have won two AFC Asian Cups so far and have been the runner-ups on four occasions. The team is nicknamed as “The Reds.” South Korea is ranked 51 currently and were 17th in December 1998 which is their best ever ranking.

They qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2018 as the runner-up of the AFC Group A behind Iran. Cha Bum-Kun is the highest capped and highest scoring player so far with 59 goals in 138 appearances. The team is managed by Shin Tae-Yong and Ki Sung-Yeung is the current captain.
