He was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft's seventh round (204th overall). On December 22, 2015, Dzingel made his NHL debut as a replacement for injured Bobby Ryan with Ottawa versus the Florida Panthers. 

Dzingel recorded 14 goals and 32 points in 81 games during the 2016-17 season, his first full year with the Senators. The Senators re-signed Dzingel on July 21, 2017, to a two-year, $3.6 million annual contracts worth $1.8 million, avoiding arbitration.

On 24 February 2019, Dzingel was sold to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Anthony Duclair and second-round picks in 2020 and 2021 along with a seventh-round pick in 2019. Later in 2019, he signed a 2-year contract with Senators. 

Currently, he is playing along with his star team-mates such as Brady Tkachuk, Ben Harpur and many more.
