Rajat Manohar Patidar is an Indian right-handed batsman and a part-time right-arm off-break bowler. He was born on June 1, 1993, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. He was a right-handed batsman and an occasional right-arm off-break bowler. His current position in the team is playing as a top-order batter, where he has been making good contributions.
Rajat developed an interest in cricket at an early age, influenced by his grandfather, who arranged his admission into a cricket academy. Rajat was initially a bowler but later honed his skills as a batsman after playing for his state at the U-15 level.
He studied at New Digamber Public School in Indore and graduated from Guru Vashishtha College in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. His early exposure and education laid the foundation for his successful cricket career.
Rajat Patidar made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh on October 30, 2015, in the Ranji Trophy. He quickly emerged as a dependable middle-order batsman and was the leading run-scorer for Madhya Pradesh in the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy with 713 runs in eight matches. Rajat Patidar's IPL career has been the driving force behind his rise. He was initially bought by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2021 auction but was released after scoring a paltry 71 runs from four matches. He got a second opportunity in IPL 2022 when he was bought in the middle of the season by RCB as a replacement. This was a milestone as he scored a record century (112 off 54 balls) in the playoffs against Lucknow Super Giants to become the first uncapped player to score a century in IPL playoffs.
He finished IPL 2022 with 333 runs at an average of 55.50. Retained by RCB for more seasons, he was appointed team captain in the initial portions of 2025, a reflection of his growth as a player and captain.
