Millicent Genevieve Millie knight is a Paralympic athlete and student. She currently competes at international level for ParalympicsGB in various events like Brett Wild, in alpine skiing in the slalom, giant slalom super-G, Super Combined and Downhill with the guidance from Bret Wild.

Knight was the youngest person to take part from ParalympicsGB at the 2014 Winter Paralympics games. In 2017 Knight is the only British World Champion in snow and also became an honorary Doctor of the University of Kent.

Early life

Knight was born on 15 January 1999, in Canterbury, Kent. At the age of six knights lost much of her vision, resulting to particularly blind with 5-10% peripheral vision on the left eye, and 5% in right.

Knight studied for her GCSEs in tandem in 2014. She also enrolled at King’s School in Canterbury in 2012.

In 2016 she did her A-levels obtaining 3 As and secured a place at Loughborough University to study sports psychology.

Millie’s Skiing Career

At the age of seven when Millie was in France for her skiing holiday before losing her sight, she got encouraged to try skiing. Knight was inspired to take it competitively after she met sit-skier Sean Rose, shortly after he competed at the 2010 Winter Paralympics.

  In November 2012, Knight began her skiing training at the age of 13 with Great Britan’s Paralympic development squad.

In spring 2013, she competed at the Europa cup in slalom and giant slalom. Her sighted guide Rachel Ferrier joined Knight at the games.

2014 Paralympics

Knight was the flag bearer at the opening ceremony of 2014 Winter Paralympics in Sochi, being the youngest competitor at any Winter Paralympics. On March 14 Knight competed in the slalom finishing fifth. She also competed in the giant slalom on 16 march finishing at a fifth place once again. Knights target is the 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang.

Post-Sochi

In April 2014 it was announced that Knight will participate on 5 June 2014.

After the Paralympics of 2014, Ferrier and Knight parted their ways and as a result, knight competed with many stand-by guides. Knight went to Panorama Mountain Village in Britsh Columbia to participate in 2015 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships. She took part in two different events the slalom and giant slalom.

Knight also won two gold medals on the world cup tour.

Knight teamed up with guide Brett Wild, who had previously raced with Knight’s coach Euan Bennet on Scottish ski team. They competed together at the world cup finals in Aspen, Colorado. They took two wins in the downhill and Super-G and a third place in the giant slalom

In 2017 Para-Alpine Skiing Championships in Travisio, Italy knight won 11 medals including seven gold.  Knight and Wild took a silver from Farkasova in the Super Combined and a second silver in the Giant Slalom.

Due to her crash at the World Cup Finals in March in South Korea, she was out of action for several months, however, was still crowned the  World Cup Downhill champion.

2018 Paralympics

She took two silvers at the 2018 Paralympics in Pyeongchang on the opening weekend of the Games in the downhill and super-G and taking home a bronze on the final day of the Paralympics.

Knight has not been spotted or reported dating anyone by far. She doesn't seem to be getting indulged in this kind of things so we can assume that Knight is single. She has a very good friendly relationship with her sighted guide Brett Wild.
