Jason Michael Kipnis or famously known as Jason Kipnis is an American professional baseball who primarily plays as second baseman and center fielder in the American Major League Baseball team, Cleveland Indians. He was picked in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft and was voted Minor Player of the Year for Cleveland Indians.

Kipnis has signed a six-year contract deal with the Indian worth $ 52.5 million including a $1,000,000 signing bonus, $52,500,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $8,750,000. In 2019, Kipnis will earn a base salary of $14,500,000, while carrying a total salary of $14,666,668. His annual salary was around $2 million dollars in the first year in 2014. 

Kipnis is the second highest-earning player in the team only behind Edwin Encarnacion who earns $18.67 million in a year.

It was reported that he bought a luxurious house in 2016 that was thought to cost in the range of $ 1.3 million.

Life Before Fame

Jason Kipnis is of American nationality. He was born on April 3, 1987, in Northbrook, Illinois, United States of America. He was born to Mark Kipnis and Kay Kipnis. He is the youngest among the 4 children of his parents.

While growing up, he played a crucial hand for him to move in his baseball career. He later joined Glenbrook North High School. He attended the University of  Kentucky and recorded a .337 batting average, stole 11 bases in his freshman year at the college.

Kipnis was later sent to Arizona State University.

Career Stats

He was the 63rd pick in the second round by the Cleveland Indians in the Major League Baseball draft in 2009 and got the signing bonus amount worth $ 575,000. After signing for the Indians, he played several minor league teams before being called by the main team in the summer of 2011. He made his major league debut for Indians against Chicago White Sox on July 22, 2011. Kipnis' career hit came against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on July 25, 2011.

After competing at the major leagues, he was one of the major baseball players for the Cleveland Indians and voted the AL of the Month for May on June 1, 2017.

In 2018, he has a record average of .264, hits 912, scored 89 home runs, and recorded 121 stolen bases that he achieved so far in his baseball career in MLB.
