Ted Lindsay was a former Canadian ice hockey player who played as a left wing for the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago black hawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Lindsay played hockey with his left hand and under jersey number 7. He started the act of lifting the Stanley cup after winning the title and was nicknamed "Terrible Ted".

Robert Blake Theodore Lindsay was born in Ontario, Canada, on July 29, 1925. Lindsay grew up with his father, Bert Lindsay, who played professional ice hockey. The late ice hockey player moved from Renfrew to  Kirkland Lake, where he attended school and began playing hockey. Ted Lindsay left this planet at the age of 93 years.

Robert was under hospice care, where the caretakers' compassionate care was provided during the last phases of his life so that Ted could live as comfortably as possible until his last breath.

During his last breath, he was survived by his son, two daughters, one stepdaughter, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The legendary ice hockey player left this earth peacefully on March 4, 2019.

Lindsay's wife Joanne didn't acknowledge him as a hockey player but simply fell in love with what he was as a human.

Ted Lindsay and Joanne Lindsay exchanged their wedding vows in 1989 and together, they shared three children, one son Blake Lindsay, two daughters, Lynn Lindsay LaPaugh, and Meredith Berman; a stepdaughter Leslie Richardson.

The Detroit player had to go through the tragic end of his soulmate, Joanne preceded Robert in death on February 23, 2017, at the age of 81.

Ted Lindsay Foundation: Ted Was Warm-Hearted, Children Lover!

Ted Lindsay foundation is focused on promoting awareness about children with autism and their educational and social needs and carries out a research project that focuses on the root cause and treatment of autism.

When Robert's fellow teammate's son got diagnosed with autism, he established the Ted Lindsay Foundation to help his friend's child and other children who are diagnosed with the same ailment.

As of 2020, the foundation has collected over $5 million in funds and is working towards improvement in the autistic field.

Ted Lindsay Career Stats, Accolades, And Physique

Blake made his debut at the age of 19 in 1944 with the Detroit Red Wings of the NHL. Ted Lindsay stood at 5 feet 8 inches, compared to other players, he had small stature.

The fierce nature that Ted had when competing in a match earned him the nickname "Terrible Ted".  Ted Linsday was enshrined into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1966.

Terrible Ted won the Art Ross Trophy cause he was the league's leading scorer. The Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in the 1949-1950 season.

Blake Theodore Lindsay helped the Red Wings win three more championships over the span of the next 5 years.
