New York Yankees showed their support to the black, Indigenous and people of color, taking a knee at an opening event on its 23rd July July in a match against Washington Nationals. Yankee manager Aaron Boone had shown his concern towards the situation in his press conference before the match and was seen attending the press-show wearing a Black Lives Matter t-shirt. While asked about it, he said:
We’ve had conversations as an organization. We’ve had conversations as a team. We’ve had smaller group conservations, conversations with one another. We kind of decided as a team, not that necessarily everyone will be wearing these [t-shirts] for batting practice, I know a lot of guys are, I felt like I wanted to wear it. Tonight, as a team, we’ll have our own demonstration moving forward.
Players include Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Gleyber Torres, Gio Urshela, Miguel Andujar, Aaron Hicks, and Luke Voit were all seen wearing Black Lives Matters shirt.

All teams kept a long black drape as the Jumbotron stadium played the One Team- One bream song. The Yankees and Nationals also took a knee after a Morgan Freeman's video message but they got up while the national anthem started playing.
Yankees players have been showing dissatisfaction on the ongoing events and have been vocal since George Floyd's death.
