Vladimir Ducasse is a Haitian-born-American footballer who plays for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills. The thirty-one-years-old offensive guard was drafted 61 in the second round of the 2010 NFL draft by the New York Jets. Furthermore, he also played for the Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, and the Baltimore Ravens.

 

Ducasse finished his collegiate career from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His salary for the 2018 season is expected to be $2 million.

Vladimir Ducasse Early Life

Vladimir Ducasse was born on 15th October 1987, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Delinois Ducasse and his wife. Furthermore, he has two elder brothers: Reginald and Macarthur, and two younger sisters: Jemima and Jefferey. At the tender age of five, Ducasse lost his mother.

In 2002, Ducasse along with his brother, Macarthur relocated to Connecticut to live with his aunt, Virginia, and uncle, Lezanoro Ducasse.

As per nationality, Ducasse is Haitian-American. He enrolled at Stamford High School, where he was a three-sport star in track, football, and basketball. In football, he played offensive line and was named First Team All-State by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association and First Team All-Fairfield County by the FCIAC Coaches.

Upon graduation, Ducasse attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As a redshirt, he saw action in four games as a reserve offensive lineman. The following season, he started 12 of 13 games and aided UMass’ line in allowing just 15 quarterback sacks in his 12 games.

Likewise, he started all games at left tackle and was part of offensive line that has allowed just 6 sacks, the fewest in the Colonial Athletic Association as well as second in the NCAA in his junior season. Overall, he finished his college career with 35 consecutive starts at left tackle.  

Vladimir Ducasse Professional Life

New York Jets

In the 2010 NFL Draft, Ducasse was picked 61st in round two. On 7th July 2010, he signed his first official contract with Jets agreeing on a four-year deal worth $3.25 million, including a signing bonus just over $1 million.

During his rookie year, Ducasse played 2 matches and eventually helped the Jets into playoffs until losing to the Pittsburg Steelers in the AFC Championship. Then in following two seasons, he made 16 games appearances, playing left guard and right tackle prospectively.  

After playing in all 16 games with 4 starts for the 2013 season, Ducasse became a free agent for the first time in his career after the season ended.

Minnesota Vikings

On 24th March 2014, Ducasse penned a one-year contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

Chicago Bears

On 16th March 2015, Ducasse joined the Chicago Bears, agreeing on a one-year deal.

Baltimore Ravens

Ducasse signed to the Baltimore Ravens on 16th May 2016. However, he was released by the Ravens on 3rd September 2016. The following month on 11th October, he was re-signed.

Buffalo Bills

Ducasse signed a three-year contract with the Buffalo Bills on 9th March 2017. After being inactive for the first four games, he started the rest of the season at right guard in 2017.
