An Indian international cricketer, Virat Kohli is considered as one of the best batsmen in the world. An elegant right-handed batsman currently captains the India national team as well as plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Virat Kohli is a native of Delhi, India, born on 5th November 1988. His father, Prem Kohli, is a lawyer whereas his mother, Saroj Kohli, is a house maker. Kohli was raised alongside his older brother, Vikas, and sister, Bhavana, in Uttam Nagar.

Kholi had a keen interest in cricket since his childhood. As per the report, he would pick up a cricket bat, start swinging it and ask his father to bowl at him, when he was just three years old. He enrolled at Vishal Bharti Public School. At his nine, Kohli was a part of the West Delhi Cricket Academy’s first intake.

Later a year, he invested $13 million to begin a chain of gym and fitness centers across the country under the name Chisel. In 2016, he launched a children fitness venture named Stepathlon Kids. The same year, he bought a $4.9 million uber luxurious Worli apartment, part of Omkar 1973 towers.

Cricket Career

International Career

Virat Kohli played for the city’s cricket team at different youth set up prior to making his first-class debut in 2006. On 18th August 2008, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka at the age of 19. He soon established himself as a regular and was a part of the team that won the 2011 World Cup.

In 2011, Kohli made his Test debut. The following year, he was named the vice-captain of the ODI team and later two years he was handed over the Test Captaincy following the Mahendra Singh Shoni’s Test retirement. He has recorded second highest number of centuries in ODIs as well as compiled the highest number of centuries in run-chases in the world.

Having grasped the number one spot in the ODI’s ICC ranking for batsmen in 2013, he showed his talent in the Twenty20 format, winning the Man of the Tournament two time in 2014 and 2016.

Kohli who has been ranked the top-ranked ODI batsman since October 2017, has taken the second position at Test batsman in the world as of 2018.

Domestic Career

In March 2008, Virat Kohli was purchased by the Indian Premier League side Royal Challengers Bangalore, signing on a youth contract for $30,000.  In his debut season, he recorded a total of 165 runs in 12 innings at an average of 15.00 as well as a strike rate of 105.09. For the 2013 season, he was appointed as the team’s captain after Vettori’s retirement.

As of 2018, he was retained by RCB for a price tag of 17 crores, the highest ever.

The couple started dating in 2013 and soon earned the celebrity couple nickname Virushka. On 11th December 2017, the lovebird tied the knot in a private ceremony in Florence, Italy.
