Tyree Donyell Fortune was born on 4 July 1990, in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Clackamas Community College and after graduation started his amateur career in MMA. He made his amateur debut in 2012 fighting against Jimmy Jennett at Rumble at the Roseland 68. He recorded 11 wins and 2 loss during his amateur career.
Tyree Fortune made his professional debut on October 8, 2016, at Prime Fighting 8 against Rob Burgess. He came out the victor on his very first professional fight with a KO in round two of the match.

After Tyree Fortune's fight with Rocha, he was signed by the Bellator MMA. He had his debut fight for the promotion at Bellator 193 on January 26, 2017, facing against Michael Quintero. The fight went on the full round and Fortune won via unanimous decision. The win was his fourth straight victory since the debut of his professional career.
