Trent Sainsbury is an Australian international footballer who currently plays as Centre-back for the National Team of Australia and Belgian First Division A club KV Kortrijk The 30-years-old footballer has previously played for Maccabi Haifa, PSV Eindhoven, Grasshoppers, Inter Milan, Jiangsu Suning, Central Coast Mariners, and PEC Zwolle.

Sainsbury was a member of the Central Coast Mariners that won the A-League Premiership and the A-League Championship in 2012-013.

Trent Sainsbury’s Career

During his youth career, Trent Sainsbury played for Perth Glory and AIS. He was transferred to Central Coast on July 1, 2010, along with Sam Gallagher and made his debut on November 24, 2010. During his first year with the club, he made a total of nine appearances.

Sainsbury renewed his contract with the team for next two-years after his successful 2011-012 campaign. He formed a formidable partnership along with Patrick Zwaanswijk after a breakthrough in the 2012-013 A-League.

He then gained interest from European clubs like Roda JC, Basel, Middlesbrough and Southampton. Sainsbury was later nominated for the NAB Young Footballer of the Year which was won by New Zealand professional footballer, Marco Rojas.

After a couple of years, Sainsbury's first goal came on April 3, 2013, against Guizhou Renhe during the 2013 AFC Champions League. In 2014., he left the club after making 60 appearances scoring 1 goal.

Sainsbury was signed by PEC Zwolle on a two-year deal on 13 January 2014 and made his debut on February 6, 2014, against FC Utrecht. His journey with PEC Zwolle ended in 2016 after scoring 1 goal in 28 appearances. Along with the team, he won 2014 Johan Cruijff Shield and KNVB Cup (2013-014).

Sainsbury moved to JS Suning with the transfer fee of £900k on January 25, 2016, on a three-year contract. He has so far scored 2 goals in 34 appearances.

He had a loan spell at Internazionale on January 31, 2017, and made his debut in a 5-2 win against Udinese on May 28, 2017, replacing Davide Santon.
