Takashi Inui is a Japanese professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Real Betis based in Sevilla and for Japanese national team as a winger. The talented winger's name in Japanese "Takashi" means Warrior.

 

Takasi has represented the national team in major tournaments like the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and 2015 AFC Asian Cup. Takasi is the first Japanese player to score against the Spanish club F.C. Barcelona.

Early Life

Born on 2 June 1988, in Omihachiman, Japan, Takashi attended Shiga Yasu HS. While his school won the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament in 2006, Takashi was named the Letterwinner at the tournament.

Club Career

Takashi's popularity has spread over his nation's boundary at the age of 19. At 19, he signed for Yokohama F. Marinos of the J. League Division 1, for which he made his debut as a professional against Yokohama F.C. on March 10, 2007. Takashi failed the impress the team, forcing him to a loaned transfer to J. League Division 3 Cerezo Osaka in June 2008. He was transferred to Cerezo Osaka at the end of the 2008 season.

In July 2011, he was traded to a German club Vfl Bochum. He made his debut for the club in a 2-1 defeat against FC St. Pauli on 13 August 2011. After an impressive season with the Bochum, Takashi finalized a three-year contract with Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2012. In 2012, Frankfurt was promoted to the Bundesliga.

Takashi played four seasons with the Frankfurt, with 87 appearances and 9 goals. On 26 August 2015, he signed for La Liga club Eibar, agreeing on a three-year contract. On 21 May 2017, Takashi became the first ever Japanese player to score against La Liga giants F.C. Barcelona.

On 1 June 2018, Takashi singed for Real Betis on a three-year contract.

International Career

Takashi started playing for the national team since 2006. In 2006, he joined Japan U21 and made only two appearances until 2009. In 2009, he was included in the Japanese senior team. Takashi made his full-length debut on 20 January 2009 against Yemen, ‌a 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification match.

Takashi has 27 caps for his national team, including U21, and has a total of 4 goals to his name. In May 2018, Takashi was named in Japan's starting 11 for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
