She grew up competing in soccer, basketball, baseball, cross country, and skiing. In her native city, Shannon played high school soccer for Prince of Wales Secondary School and then enrolled at Rutgers University, where she played from 2009 to 2013.

Career

At the age of 15, Woeller made her debut in the Canadian youth program in 2005. She won a gold medal with Canada at the 2008 CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship in Puebla. Further, she was a part of the Canadian squad at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Chile 2008. Also, she finished fourth with Canada at the 2010 CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship. 

By her 18, she received a call from the national team, making her debut on March 7, 2009. At the 2009 Cyprus Women's Cup, she finished second with the team,  won a gold medal with Canada at the XVI Pan American Games Guadalajara 2011, won a silver medal with Canada at the 2012 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying tournament in Vancouver and finished second with Canada at the 2012 Cyprus Women's Cup.  

Though she missed the 2018 Concacaf Women's Championship through injury, she represented Canada at the FIFA Women's World Cup France 2019 alongside Kailen Sheridan and Allysha Chapman
