After the inauguration ceremony, the game started with Saudi Arabia having the better ball position. Saudi Arabia in green Jersey was seen showing a dominance but at 1:30 seconds Russia was already in the D area. 

At 2: 30 Russia went for it's first ever cornered the match was really interesting as both the team looked like they were ready to run a distance and as expected Russian defense was pretty tough to breach Saudi under Juan Antonio Pizzi's coaching was certainly showing a good expertise attack as he was a former Barcelona forwarder.

Around seven minutes, Russia took the ball to the D area for the second time and ball stayed in control of Russian side for next minute.

On 11 minute Yury Gazinsky, a Russian Midfielder netted the first goal for Russia. With that goal, he became the first scorer of 2018 Russia world cup.

In the First half ball possession for Russia was around 56%, whereas Saudi Arabia held the position for around 44%, and with two shots on target, Russia was able to net a goal for their side early on.

Twenty minutes in the game Arabia was finally able to cross the D-area and got a corner which was followed by another Corner but Russia regained its possession. Sergey Dzadove caught a dramatic injury and Play was stopped because of a player lying on the pitch and afterward Dzadove was replaced by Denis Cheryshev.

On around 31 minutes The referee signaled a free kick as Mohammed Al-Sahlawi from Saudi Arabia tripped Roman Zobnin.

Later, the replaced player Denis Cheryshev with jersey number 6 netted another goal on 43rd minutes into the game.

52 minutes into the game Golovin shoots over from about 20 yards after Saudi Arabia lose the ball yet again. Arabians again missed a good scoring chance after Taisar Al-Jassim was unable to send one home.

Tsaisear sent a corner to a correct place but the opportunity wasn't capitalized again. Saudi Arabia was seen playing with the more attacking mentality in the second half.

63 minutes into the game Abdullah Otayf was replaced by Fahad Al-Muwallad. Later in the 64th minute, Aleksandr Samedov from Russian side was replaced by Daler Kuzyaev. A third exchange was introduced to Russian side while 20 minutes remained on the clock. This time Fedor Smolov was replaced by Artem Dzyuba.

Russia on 70 minutes and 31 seconds scored the third goal against Saudi Arabian side. Artem Dzyuba with Jersey number 22 scored another goal disappointing Saudi Arabians on its opening game. 

In 72nd minutes Saudi Arabia made another change and sent Yahya Al Shehri back to the tunnel and Hattan Sultan Babhir took on the field as his replacement.

The first yellow card was given to Russian footballer Aleksandr Golovin jersey number 17, for faulty play in 88th minutes in the game. In the injury time, Denis Cheryshev wearing Jersey number 6 scored another goal (4th goal) within a minute of extra time to wrap up the match in celebration.

Whereas another player with jersey no. 17 Taiseer was given a yellow card along with a free kick around the D area which later changed into the fifth goal of the night. Aleksandr Golovin scores the second ever international career goal with the 5-0 win.
