Rodney Michael Hood best known as Rodney Hood is an American professional basketball shooting guard currently playing side Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The young talent played college basketball, for Mississippi States University and later Duke University.

 

Hood was picked 23rd overall in the first round of 2015 NBA draft by Utah Jazz where he remained four long years before traded to Cleveland Cavaliers.

Rodney Hood was born on 20th October 1992, in Meridian, Mississippi, to father, Ricky Hood, and mother, Vicky Hood. His birth sign is Libra. By nationality, he is an American and is of Afro-American ethnicity.

Hood grew up alongside his siblings, sister, Whitney Hood, and brother, Ricky Hood, Jr. He enrolled at Meridian High School in his hometown, where he initially started his basketball career. During his junior year, he recorded 22.1 points, 6.2 rebounds, with 4.4 assists per game, leading the team to the Class 6A championship game.

Similarly, he averaged 24.8 points, 2.0 blocks, 6.4 assists, 3.1 steals, and 8.6 rebounds per game while leading his team to the Class 6A championship and a 29-2 record.

Hood was rated five-star by Rival.com, listed No.5 small forward, as well as No. 16 player in the nation in the year 2011.

Rodney Hood's College Career

Upon graduation, Hood attended Mississippi States University as he had committed in October of 2010. During his first season, he earned SEC All_freahman Team. He averaged 10.3 points, 4,8 rebounds, with 2.0 assists in 32 games.

At the mid of his freshman year, he was transferred to Duke University. He subsequently sat out the 2012-2013 season because of NCAA transfer rules.

In his sophomore year at Duke, he earned second-team All_Acc honors. He averaged 16.1 points, 2.1 assists, with 3.9 rebounds in 35 games.

In April 2014, he announced for the NBA draft, forgoing his final two years of college eligibility.

Utah Jazz

He had a season-best game on 16th March 2015 against Charlotte Hornets where he recorded 24 points on 9-of-11 from the field and 5-of-5 from 3-points range which led the Jazz recorded their 6th straight win with 94-66.

Hood played four seasons representing Utah in 227 games.

Cleveland Cavaliers

On 8th February 2018, Hood was traded to Cleveland Cavaliers in a 3-team trade which also involved the Jazz with the Sacramento Kings. At Cavaliers, he was assigned the jersey No.1. He made his Cavaliers debut on 11th February alongside Lebron James, Kyle Korver, and Kevin Love in a 121-99 win over the Boston Celtics.
