Richard Erwin Rood or famously known as Rick Rude was a professional American wrestler who has fought for several wrestling promotions such as World Wrestling Entertainment, World Championship of Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling.

 

He also several championships which include winning  WCW International World Heavyweight Champion, WWE Intercontinental Championship and the WCW United States Champion. For his outstanding contribution to sports entertainment, Rude was inducted into  WWE Hall of Fame in 2017.

Rick Rude Early Career

Rick Rude was born on  December 7, 1958, in St Peter, Minnesota, United States of America. He was born to mother, Sally Jean Thompson, and father, Richard Clyde Rood.

He went to Robbinsdale High School with his friend, Curt Hening also known as Mr. Perfect and later became a close friend. Rude later received his degree in physical education from Anoka Ramsey Community College.

Rick Rude Career

Rude made his professional wrestling career in 1982 and went to wrestle for promotions such as Championship Wrestling, World Class Wrestling, Jim Crockett Promotions, World Wrestling Entertainment and World Championship of Wrestling.

He later retired from in-ring completion in 1994 after his match with Sting on 1 May 1994 during the Wrestling Dontaku in Fukuoka. For his remarkable contribution to wrestling industry, he was honored by WWE by inducting him into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017. The award was accepted by his wife, Michelle and children, Merrisa and Richard Jr on his behalf.

Rick Rude Personal Life

The American famous wrestler, Rick Rude stands at a height of 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs around 109 kg. Moving towards her personal life, he married his first wife, Cheryl Holler with whom he tied his wedding knot in 1976.

The couple later divorced in 1982. Rude married his second spouse, Michelle Rood in 1988 and the duo bond remains strong until Rude death in 1999. The pair is also blessed with three children,  Richard Jr, Merrisa and Colton. His younger son, Colton died during a motorcycle accident in Rome, Georgia on 3 September 2016.

Rude was pronounced dead from heart failure on the morning of April 20, 1999, when his wife found him unconscious but due to the autopsy report showed that his death was caused by accidental overdose.

Rick Rude Net worth and Salary

Considered as one of the best in-ring technicians as well as Curt Hening by the legendary wrestler, Bret Hart, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017 inducted by the great wrestler, Ricky Steamboat.

Even though his net worth, as well as his salary, has not been officially disclosed as it is still under review. But looking at his professional wrestling career competing for several American wrestling promotions such as World Championship of Wrestling, Extreme Championship of Wrestling and World Wrestling Entertainment, his net worth is estimated to around $1 million.
