Radja Nainggolan is a Belgian professional footballer who currently plays as the midfielder for the Italian Club Inter Milan. In international events, he represents his country's national team.

 

He has spent most of his professional career playing in Italy for teams Piacenza, Cagliari, Roma, and Inter Milan.

Radja Nainggolan's Early Life

Radja Nainggolan was born on 4 May 1988, in Antwerp, Belgium to parents Marius Nainggolan and Lizi Nainggolan. He was three half-brothers and his twin sister as his siblings. His mother Lizi is a Belgian while his father Marianus is of Indonesian background. His father left his family when he was just a child. He was raised as Roman Catholic and is fluent in Dutch, English, and Italian.

Nainggolan has been playing football since the age of 5. He used to play with Tubantia Borgerhout and was selected to the youth team of Germinal Beerschot. He caught the eyes of Alessandro Beltrami and was moved to Italian Serie B club, Piacenza.

Radja Nainggolan's Career

Radha Nainggolan's senior debut with Piacenza arrived on 28 May 2006 against the Arezzo. The match ended up with a home victory for Piacenza and after its end, Nainggolan was selected as the permanent member of the first team. Nainggolan became a starter for the Emilia-Romagna for the 2008-2009 season. He helped the team avoid relegation playing 38 of 42 games in which he scored three goals.

Nainggolan was loaned to Cagliari on January 27, 2010, with a buyout clause. He did not get to spend as much time with Cagliari as he used to in the past. After seven appearances with the team, the club announced to have acquired 50% of his rights in a co-ownership deal with Piacenza.

Under the management of Pierpaolo Bisoli, Radja Nainggolan began to be started more often in early 2010-2011 to fill up the absence left by Daniele Conti. To fulfill the other half of his contract, he returned to Piacenza on January 31, 2011. Nainggolan was the undisputed first-choice for three seasons. He further extended his term with the team in October of 2013.

Team Roma acquired Nainggolan on a loan on January of 2011 until the end of the season for a fee of €3 million. Roma further had the option to buy 50% of his rights in the coming summer for the price of €6 million. His first debut with the team ended in a 1-0 home win over Sampdoria for the Coppa Italia. On the matches to follow, he would help Roma to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

During the 2015 off-season, Radja Nainggolan signed a permanent deal with the Roma for €9 million. He renewed his contract with the team in July of the following year, extending it further by a year.
