Paul Williams is a former American professional boxer nicknamed as “The Punisher” in his workplace. He used to compete in three different divisions: Welterweight, Light Middleweight and Middleweight. In 2000, he made his debut where he was promoted by the Goossens. He handed his first victory in the same year by winning over his opponent Jeremy Mickelson at Greensboro Coliseum Complex, Greensboro, North Carolina. Williams is two-time WBO Welterweight Champion and also the interim WBO Light Middleweight Champion. Till date he has won a total of 41 tournaments with 27 knockouts, 13 decisions and 1 disqualification out of 43. Unfortunately, due to his paralysis from the waist down would not let him to add on in his winning currently.
Born on July 27, 1981 at Augusta, Georgia, United States, he is the only son of his parents. His father was a retired MMX fighter and a pro boxing coach for his city which might be the reason for Paul’s passion for boxing. He did is schooling from St. Augusta High School in Augusta, Georgia. Later, he quitted his further education and got entirely devoted towards boxing. He started to get training from his father’s good friend in gym and later his father who is his inspiration trained him into the boxing ring.
Despite of being one of the best boxers in the ring, his career came to an end when this fighter met with the terrible bike accident in May 27, 2012. The accident took place in Georgia where he crashed his bike while trying to avoid hitting the car. In results, his spinal cord was injured severely leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. However, the doctors and the boxer are hopeful about the recovery of this paralysis where Paul might have a chance to regain his walking capability and step his foot again in the boxing world. The boxer is happy about his life and is all positive too about his future.
