Ward started her journalism career with WTEM Radio, situated in her native residents of Washington D.C. He then worked at WTEM from 1992 to 1995.

Prior to joining ESPN Network, Ward worked as a host of WBAL-Radio in Baltimore. Her responsibilities include hosting WBAL’s Baltimore tore Ravens program on Sunday. From 1995-96, she also worked as a fill-in sports anchor on WBAL-TV in Baltimore from 1995-96.

Ward started working as a sideline reporter for ESPN’2 college football games in 1996. In addition, she also worked as an analyst for selected games during ESPN and ESPN’2 coverage of the 1996 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship.

Since the year 1992, Ward worked on the women’s college basketball games on several networks, includes Home Team Sports HTS.

On November 22, 2000, Ward was the first woman who worked as a play-by-play announcer on Division I college football game.

That same year, she announced the Division III Championship and Motor City Bowl for the Networks. Ward also served as the host of WNBA Shootaround, NBA Today, NBA 2Night, NHL 2Night, NFL Tonight and for ESPN Radio The NFL on ESPN Radio and the major league baseball shows.
