Pam's birth name is Pamela Howard Shriver. She was born on July 4, 1962, in Baltimore, Maryland, the U.S. Her father was Sam Shriver while mother was Margot Shriver.

She attended the McDonogh School where she graduated from in 1979. Shriver showed a talent for tennis since a young age and at the age of 16, had managed to reach the finals of the U.S. Open as an amateur.

Professional Life

In 1978, Pam Shriver had reached the women's singles finals at the age of 16. She had defeated the reigning Wimbledon champion, Martina Navratil in the semifinal but lost to Chris Evert in the final. Reaching the finals in her amateur run and defeating the Wimbledon champion helped Shriver to gain prominence in her career. Shriver was not able to make another Grand Slam singles return in the years to follow.

From the year 1978 until Shriver's retirement in 1997, she won 21 singles titles. Her doubles were even grander than her singles win. She won 79 Women's doubles titles and won 112 career doubles titles overall. She is one of the six female players to have won more than 100 career titles.

Pam Shriver and Martina Navratil made one of the most successful women's doubles team. They have won Australian Open, five Wimbledon, five US Open and four French open titles together.
