Nicco Montano was born on 16 December 1988 in LeChee, Arionza, United States of America. She is of American nationality and of Navajo and Hispanic descent. She completed her school education from Chinle High School in 2006 and later attended colleges such as ASU College, Dine College, and Fort Lewis College.
Nicco later joined Durango Martial Arts Academy and later began to train in boxing and jiu-jitsu before starting her career in mixed martial arts in 2013.
She made her professional MMA debut in November 2015 and went to on to compete under King of the Cage promotion. Under KOTC, she was able to win the promotion Women's Flyweight Championship and later fought for The Ultimate Fighter.

Nicco was expected to take on Sijara Eubanks for the inaugural and vacant UFC Women's Flyweight Championship at the event The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale that took place on December 1, 2017, but was replaced by Roxanne Modafferi, Nicco Montano won the match and title through a unanimous decision.
In her net fight, she was expected to have a match against Valentina Shevchenko during UFC 228 on 8 September 2018, but due to weight cutting issues, she wasn't able to fight for the UFC Women Flyweight title.
