Munir Mohand Mohamedi El Kajoui or famously known as Mounir El Kajoui is a Spanish born Moroccan professional football player who plays as a goalkeeper for the Morrocan national football team and  Spanish professional football club, CD Numancia.

Besides playing for CD Numancia, he has also played for Spanish football clubs such as Almeria and Melilla. He made his full international debut for Morrocco in 2015 and played at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

After playing for the junior team of Ceuta, he joined the reserve teams of Ceuta in 2008 and later on went to play for fellow Spanish regional football club, Almeria in 2009 in their reserve team.

After playing for the reserve team of  Melilla reserve team, he joined the main team in 2010.

Munir was mostly a backup goalkeeper to fellow Melilla goalkeeper Pedro Dorronsoro for a couple of seasons before becoming a regular starter for the club.

He played for Melilla for over 70 matches and later on signed with the Spanish Segunda Division team, CD Numancia with whom he signed a two-year contract deal with the club in 2014.

Munir made his debut against CD Leganes and saved two crucial penalties during the shootout on 11 September 2014.

He made his debut at the second tier against UD  Las Palmas played on 19 October 2014 and was later promoted to first lead goalkeeper by replacing  Biel Ribas.

Mounir El Kajoui’s International Career

He made his professional international debut for Morroco in 2015  after he changed his allegiance to play for Morroco instead of  Spain.

Munir made his international debut against Uruguay in March 2015 and was in the team that played at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations at Gabon.

He has played 27 matches for Morroco since making his debut in 2015 and is in the 23 Moroccan football team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He will start in the World Cup alongside players like Romain SaissNabil Dirar, Achraf Hakimi, Hamza Mendyl, and Amine Harit
