Miles Bridges Bio and Early Life

A native of Flint, Michigan, Miles Bridge was born on 21st March 1998 to Cynthia and Raymond Bridges. His birth sign is Aries. Talking about his nationality, Bridges is an American and is of Afro-American ethnicity.

His father Raymond is also a professional basketball player, having won two-time basketball state champion at Flint Northern High School. Since the age of two, he was taught about the game by his father. Bridges grew up with his sister Tara Rushing.

Bridge enrolled at Woodland Park Academy in his hometown. Then at the age of 12, he practiced at a local Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA).

Miles Bridges High School Career

At the age of 14, Miles Bridges stood 6 feet 4 inches and was a center for Flint Southwestern Academy. As a freshman, he averaged 10 points, 11 rebounds as well as 3 blocks per game, leading the team to the regional semifinals and a 19-6 record.

In July of 2013, Bridges joined Huntington Prep School in Huntington, West Virginia. In his second year of high school, he averaged 9.9 rebounds per game, 9.8 points per game, 3.3 Assists per game, and 2.7 steals while leading the Irish to a 29-5 overall record.

In 2015, during his junior year, he Prep played “Dick’s Sporting Goods High School Nationals Tournament” at Christ the King Regional High School along with Huntington. On the season, he averaged, 10.6 rebounds, 2.8 blocks, 2.3 steals, 15.7 points, and 3.5 assists per game with a 31-3 record the most in the school’s history.  

As a senior, he averaged 10 rebounds, 2.0 Steals, 25 points, and 5.2 assists while leading Huntington to a 25-11 record. In the 2016 McDonald’s All-American Game, Bridges was named a McDonald’s All-American. On 30th March 2016, he scored 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and 8 points in a 114-107 win over the West team at the United Center.

Miles Bridges College Career

By Rival.com, Miles Bridge was ranked as the 10th-best player of his class. He was offered by various renowned universities including Oregon, Kansas, and Kentucky but he decided to compete for Michigan State on 3rd October 2015. Tom Izzo, head coach for the Michigan State Spartans men’s basketball team, expected him to easily fit into the squad as well as labeling him a “blue-collar superstar”.

For Michigan State, he made his debut on 12th November 2016, against Arizona where he scored 21 points and recorded 7 rebounds. On 21th Jan 2017, he scored a career-high 33 points.

He was announced as one of the 10 finalists on the Kari Malone Power Forward of the Year watch list on 2nd February 2017. He was named to USBWA All-Districts V Team and Sporting News Freshman All-American Team.

Miles Bridges NBA Draft

On June 21, 2018, Bridges was selected as the twelfth overall pick for the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2018 NBA draft but was traded to the Charlotte Hornets. On July 2, 2018, Bridges is officially in contract with the Hornets.

Upon arrival, he joins the team alongside Malik MonkMarvin Williams, Frank Kaminsky, and Dwayne Bacon.
