Michael Magee better known Mike Magee is a retired Amerian Soccer Player. He primarily played as a forward, and the last team that he played for before retirement was the LA Galaxy in the Major League Soccer.

 

In 2013, Magee was part of the Chicago Fire roster and scored 21 goals in the season for which he was named the MLS MVP.

Mike Magee's Early Life

Mike Magee was born on September 2, 1984, in Elmhurst, Illinois, United States. Information regarding his parents has not been disclosed. He attended the IMG Soccer Academy from 2000-2001. He graduated from USSF's Bradenton Academy and entered the 2003 MLS SuperDraft.

Mike Magee's Professional Life

During the 2003 MLS SuperDraft, Mike Magee was picked by MetroStars trading their previous year's third overall selection, Brad Davis. Bob Bradley was the Metro Coach and Magee was familiar with him since his youth soccer days. He quickly joined the Metro lineup and played almost every game of his rookie season except the finale. He became the first player in the team history to start a game and score a goal.

Magee struggled for playing time with MetroStars signing new foreign strikers in the 2004 season. Magee was only able to score three goals in the season. In 2005, he scored five goals and had five assists. He suffered from an injury during his 2006 season which caused him to be sidelined for most of the season. His injury continued to the 2007 season where he only played 7 league matches.

In 2008, Magee was returned to his original position of forward and though he had not completely recovered from his injuries, was able to perform better than the previous season. He also scored five key goals of the season that helped his club to reach the MLS Playoffs.

In January of 2009, Mike Magee was traded to Los Angeles Galaxy for a 2nd round pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. He played in 23 league matches during his first season with Los Angeles and scored 2 goals. He was a starter in all 4 of the 2009 MLS Cup Playoffs where he scored two goals helping his club to reach the MLS Cup Final. The Galaxy's lost the game in the finals.

Magee's 2011 season became one of his outstanding seasons. He scored 10 goals in all competitions for the Galaxy and helped his team win the 2011 MLS Cup. He also made his first professional appearance as a goalkeeper on June 25, 2011. His ability to deliver goals and perform clutch performances in the postseason made him be known as LA's Mr. November.

Mike Magee was traded to Chicago Fire in May of 2013 for the MLS rights to Robbie Rogers. He scored 7 goals in his first 7 matches across all competition with the team. The Chicago's missed the playoffs by three goals and Magee also lost the MLS Golden Boot to Camilo Sanvezzo. He was nominated for the MVP awards along with Robbie Keane and Marco Di Vaio on November 20. He was named the MVP of MLS on December 5, becoming the first Chicago Fire player to win the award.

Magee underwent a right hip surgery and missed eight months for recovery in 2014. He was loaned to Saint Louis Fc in May 2015 for his on-field recovery from his injury. The following year, he retired from the professional plays.

Magee is a married man. He married his girlfriend Kristen Pizzolato in 2012. The two have been together ever since. He has a daughter Keira and a son Michael with his wife. There have not been any news of him ever being involved in any extramarital affairs.
