Playing in the power forward position of the Houston Rockets, Marquese Chriss is an American professional basketball player. He was signed by the Sacramento Kings in the 2016 NBA draft but was later traded to the Phoenix Suns with whom he made his NBA debut.

Chriss played for the Washington Huskies during his college years. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in his rookie season run.

Marquese De’Shawn Chriss was born on July 2, 1997, in Sacramento, California to Shawntae Wright. He was a student of Pleasant Grove High School and was a member of his school's varsity basketball team. During his senior year of high school, he averaged 21.9 points, 11.6 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game.

For his college career, he joined at the University of Washington. He only played one season of college football as he decides to forego the final three years of college eligibility and declared for the 2016 NBA draft.

Professional Life of Marquese Chriss

Marquese Chriss was drafted by the Sacramento Kings with the eights overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft but was traded to the Phoenix Suns on draft night in exchange for the draft rights to Bogdan Bogdanovic, Georgios Papagiannis, and Skal Labissiere. He made his debut with the team in their season opener match on October 26, 2016. Chriss, Dragan Bender, and Devin Booker all played in the game making Suns the first NBA team to have three teenagers on the court in the same game.

In his rookie season with the Kings, he recorded average of 9.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.7 assists playing in 82 games. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie second Team becoming the 14th player in the franchise history to do so.

The following season, Marquese Chriss was able to reach 100 carer steals and three-pointers three points on January 31 of 2018. Only Lebron James and Kevin Durant have been able to reach the 100 of each record younger than him making him the third youngest player to do so. At the end of the second season of his NBA career, he averaged 7.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 blocks.

The Suns traded Marquese Chriss along with Brandon Knight to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Ryan Anderson and De' Anthony Melton on 31 August 2018. He missed the first five games of the season with the Rockets due to a left ankle injury. He made his debut with the team playing against Portland Trail Blazers.
