Career

In the 1984 Major League Baseball draft, Mark was picked by the Oakland Athletics. On 22nd August 1986, he made his debut for the Athletics. He played for the team until 1997 and then went on to play for St. Louis Cardinals fro 1997-2001.

McGwire set the major league single-season home run record with 70, which Barry Bonds broke three years later with 73. His career highlights include 12× All-Star, 2× World Series champion, 1987 AL Rookie of the Year, 1990 Gold Glove Award, 3X Silver Slugger Award, and 5× MLB home run leader.
