Mario Humberto de Luna Saucedo was born on January 5, 1988, in Aguascalientes, Mexico. During his younger years, he joined the Chivas or better known as Guadalajara youth team and started practicing soccer with the team.

Mario de Luna made his professional debut with the senior team of CD Guadalajara on November 9, 2008, against Puebla F.C. in the 2008 Apertura. He scored his first goal for the team in the Primera Division de Mexico. His score helped the Guadalajara to close the game with a 2-2 draw against Puebla.
