The San Jose Sharks signed Vlasic on August 27, 2008, to a four-year contract extension of $12.4 million that would keep him with the team through the NHL season 2012–13. 

The Sharks signed a 5-year, $21 million contract extension on July 11, 2012, which will keep him with the Sharks through the NHL season 2017–2018. He signed an eight-year $58 million contract extension with the Sharks on July 1, 2017.
