Manuel Marouane da Costa Trindade Senoussi or famously known as Manuel de Costa is a French-born Morroccon professional football player who plays as a center back for Turkish football club, Istanbul Basaksehir FK.

He also has played for football clubs such as PSV, Fiorentina, West Ham United, Nacional etc to name a few. Costa has also represented Portugal in their youth teams and made his international debut for Morrocco team in 2014.

Manuel de Costa’s  Career

He started his senior career with French Ligue 1 club, AS Nancy in 2004 and was instrumental in helping the team to win the Coupe de la Ligue in 2005/06. Costa later moved to the Netherlands and a signed a five-year contract with Dutch football team, PSV Eindhoven for a reported transfer fee of €1 million in 2006.

He was part of PSV Eindhoven team that went on to win the Eredivisie for the 2006/07 and 2007/08 season. Costa later moved to Italy and joined the Italian football club, Fiorentina in early 2008 and was later transferred to the fellow Italian club, Sampdoria in 2009.

He has then signed a three-year contract with the English club, West Ham United in 2009 and made his debut against Bolton Wanderers on 22 September 2009 and scored his first goal against Hull City on 21 November 2009.

Costa signed a reported transfer fee of    1.5 million with Russian football club, Lokomotiv Moscow in 2011 and was later transferred to Portuguese football club, CD Nacional as a part of a loan deal from Moscow for 2012/13 season.

He signed a three contract with the Turkish club, Sivasspor and later moved to Greece and a signed with Greek football club, Olympiacos for a transfer fee of €1.9 million in 2015.

The Portuguese defender was the part of the Olympiacos team that went on to win the Superleague Greece in 2015/16 and 2016/17. After a successful spell in Greece, he is currently playing for the Turkish team, Basaksehir with whom he signed a two-year contract in the summer of 2017.

Manuel de Costa’s International Career

After playing for several Portugal youth teams, he made his full international debut for the senior Morrocan team in 2014 against Mozambique.

He scored his first international goal for Morroco against Uzbekistan in a friendly on 27 March 2018.

Costa along with players such as Fayçal Fajr and Mbark Boussoufa is included in the 23 man Morrocan team led by Medhi Benatia.

Manuel de Costa’s Personal Life

Talking about his personal life, he seems to be single and unmarried as there is no information about his past or present relationship.

He was charged with sexually assaulting a woman in early 2011 in a nightclub, I Ilford and pleaded not guilty in October 2010 and on 16 September 2010, he was cleared for groping a woman in a nightclub. He was fined  £1,000  and ordered to complete £250 by Snaresbrook Crown Court for physically assaulting her.

Costa was also fined £350 for drunken driving while he was playing for Portuguese club, Nacional in 2013.
