Panamanian forward-center soccer player Luis Tejada plays striker for Sports Boys of the Peruvian Premera Division and the Panamanian National team. He has scored a goal against Mexico in a 2006 World Cup qualifying match. 

His first professional debut was with Tauro F.C. in the local Panamanian league. He has achieved a lot in his life even more than anyone deserves. 

Early Life

Luis was born on 28 March 1982 with the birth name Luis Carlos Tejada Hansell in Panama- Stadt. His name means "Matador".  He was so much fascinated by football which led him to his dreams. He used to practice football since he was a child.

Tajeda made his first professional debut with Tauro in the local league where he successfully made a good impression all among the mass. After, seeing his dedication and determination he was quickly moved to Colombia to play with Colombian side Deportes Tolima.  

Club Career

Luis was exactly going on his path seeing he was transferred to the first division team Envigado in 2004. After the participation in Gold Cup, he sets off to the United Arab Emirates. Tejada signed a three-year contract in 2005 for sending him to Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates. After performing in the AFC Champions League, he became upset of his performance and shortly returned to Panama. 

After Returning to Panama, he decided to join in the championship of Clausura of ANAPROF, with one of the best teams of the local football league, Plaza Amador. Even though he just participated in a few matches. Again he moved on to Colombia for playing a short spell with ex Copa Libertadores champions Once Caldas and as his bad luck, he was fired for some disciplinary problems and again returned to Panama to play for Plaza Amador.

Later on, he was signed by Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer on 12 December 2006 for the 2007 season. However, he just performed for two minutes in five games and after returned to Panamanian side Tauro but did not play very much. Till then, he scored four goals while staying in Panama. Again Luis scored 3 goals in the Torneo Finalizacion 2007. Later, he became a key and inseparable part for America in the next tournament. In 2008, Tejada appeared in 19 games in the Torneo Iniciacion 2008 where he successfully scored 12 goals. His performance made a fantastic impression on people and also nicknamed America's golden tooth. 

After he started playing for Juan Aurich in Tauro and ended with an impressive 48 goal record in 65 games which made people think about him. He made stronger leagues in Mexico and Brazil. After that, he moved to the Mexican side Deportivo Toluca in 2012 in a replacement of Uruguayan-striker Ivan Alonso. He scored 4 goals in 5 matches where his performance seen to be dim.  In December 2013, Tejada returned to Peru and again played for Juan Aurich for two years. And after he joined Universidad Cesar Vallejo. Finally, on 1st March 2015, Luis walked off the pitch during a match against Cienciano because of being subjected to racist abuse from fans.

International Career

Tajeda made his first international debut for Panama in June 2001 where he played a friendly match against Trinidad and Tobago. Later on 2015, he earned a total 88 caps, scoring 40 goals. He also represented his country in 24 FIFA World Cup qualification matches. Before in 2005, Tejada scored a goal on an overhead kick against Mexico in a World Cup 2006 qualifying match which enabled Panama a 1:1 tie against the CONCACAF Giants. Even his goal was voted the best goal of the year by Fox Sports

Tejada had also made Panama to the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup final but later they finished as runners-up to the United States. He scored three goals there. But he missed his penalty kick in the penalty shoot-out against the United States in the final. Then, he became knowable as the most valuable player of the tournament for his dedication and efforts towards the matches.

He has also got a red card while playing the semi-final against Mexico in 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Recently, In May 2018, he was named in Panama's preliminary 35 man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup held in Russia.

Tejada is the all-time leading scorer in Panama history till now. He has also been included in the 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup led by Roman Torres and also has other stars like Blas PerezFidel Escobar etc.
