Lionel Messi Wins UEFA Goal of Season Award; Ronaldo in the Second place Soccer

Lionel Messi's free-kick goal against Liverpool at Camp Nou last season was awarded the UEFA Goal of Season by UEFA. His fierce rival Cristiano Ronaldo managed to be runner-up for his goal against his former team Manchester United on November 7 at the San Siro Stadium.

Messi's second goal from 30 yards out a 3-0 win over Liverpool in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on May 1 was chosen the best goal by the jury of former coaches and international players after the votes from fans on the UEFA website and social media accounts.

 

 

 

 

Portugal's Danilo's goal got the third spot which he scored against Serbia in the Euro qualifiers to equalize the game to a 1-1 draw.

This is the third time Messi has been honored with this award, Earlier he won it in 2014/2015 and 2015-2016.

Only goals scored in UEFA club or international fixtures in 2018/19 were eligible for consideration. Goals from completed competitions were shortlisted by UEFA's technical observers – which includes former international coaches and players – with UEFA's expert panel drawing up the final ten.
