A source revealed that the Premier League club has offered a lucrative contract worth €700 million if Messi can negotiate and come on a free transfer.
As per some reports, the City owners have agreed to pay him €700 Million on a five-year deal worth - the same amount as his release clause. As per the deal, Messi will play the first three years in Premier League and the next two years with New York City FC- also owned by City Football Group (CFG).
Meanwhile, La Liga on Sunday released a statement saying Messi’s Barcelona contract was still valid and the clubs who want to buy him will have to pay €700 million (£624m/$823m) release clause in a deal that runs until next June.
