She was the quarterfinalist in 2007 and semifinalist in the 2009 U.S. Women’s Amateur. She had won the 2008 U.S. Girls’ Junior. She also had played in the Women’s Australian Open, and 2010 Kraft Nabisco Championship, and also was in the team representing the United States in Curtis Cup.

In 2010, Lexi turned professional signing sponsorship deals with Cobra-PUMA Golf and with Red Bull. Since Lexi lacked the official status as an LPGA Tour member, she has to rely on sponsor’s exemptions to have her entry in the tournaments.

Lexi had her first LPGA tournament in 2011, Avnet LPGA Classic, with a sponsor’s exemption. She also played in the ShopRite LPGA Classic, LPGA Championship, and the U.S. Open but missed the cut. Her fifth LPGA tournament was Evian Masters where she finished 36th. With more games and Tours, on December 17, 2011, she won the Dubai Ladies Masters (Ladies European Tour) which made her the youngest professional to win the LET.

She petitioned the LPGA to allow her to play in up to 12 LPGA Tournaments in 2011 using sponsor exemptions instead of six which was denied by the then Commissioner Mike Whan. However, he announced that the rules would be changed to allow the non-members of LPGA to qualify maybe which in effect ought to give her the opportunity to play in more than 12 tournaments in 2011. This was indeed good news for her. At age sixteen, she became the youngest winner ever on the LPGA Tour, breaking the previous record set by Marlene Hagge at age 18 in 1952. Her record stood for 11 months until 15-year-old Lydia Ko won the 2012 CN Canadian Women's Open.
