Kwak Tae-Hwi is a  South Korean football player who plays as a center back for South Korea national team and the South Korean football club, FC Seoul. He has also played for football clubs such as Jeonnam Dragons, Kyoto Sanga FC, Ulsan Hyundai, Al Shabab and AI Hilal.

 

The South Korean defender has played for the youth team of South Korea and made his international debut for South Korea in 2008.

Kwak Tae Hwi was born on 8 July 1981 in Chilgok, Gyeongbuk, South Korean. He is South Korean nationality and was interested in playing football since his early childhood days.

Kwak joined the fellow South Korean football club, Jeonnam Dragons in 2007 and was the part of the successful Dragons team that won the FA Cup in 2007.

He moved to Japan and joined the Japanese football club, Kyoto Sanga FC in 2010 and was later transferred back to the South Korean football club, Ulsan Hyundai in 2011.

Kwak was the part of the victorious team that won the AFC Champions League in 2012 and later joined with Saudi Arabian professional football club, AI Shab in 2013.

He was later transferred to AI Hilal in 2013 and was part of the team that went on to win the King Cup of Champions in 2015 and Saudi Super Cup in the same season.

Kwak is currently playing for his former club, FC Seoul in the summer of 2016.

Kwak Tae Hwi's International Career

After representing South Korea in their under 23 teams, he made his international debut for South Korea in 2008.

He scored his first international goal for South Korea against Turkmenistan in the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers on February 2, 2008.

Hwi was not selected by the South Korean football team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

However, he has played for South Korea at the 2014 FIFA World Cup as well as AFC Asian Cup in 2011 and 2015 along with fellow South Korean football players such as midfielder and current captain of South Korea, Ki Sung Yueng, midfielder, Son Heung-min and goalkeeper, Jung Sung-Ryong.
