The South Korean defender has played for the youth team of South Korea and made his international debut for South Korea in 2008.
Kwak Tae Hwi was born on 8 July 1981 in Chilgok, Gyeongbuk, South Korean. He is South Korean nationality and was interested in playing football since his early childhood days.
He attended Chung Ang University and started his playing career with the University.
