Khalil Mack is the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history after a six-year, $141 million Contract Extension with Bears American Football

Chicago Bears signed the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders and a day later they have managed to settle him in the club with six-year, $141 million contract extension on Saturday.

According to ESPN reporter Adam Schefter, Mack will receive $60 million as signing bonus and remaining $90 million in guaranteed which will also make him the highest paid defensive player in NFL history surpassing the previous record set by defensive tackle Aaron Donald with Rams.

 

 

Donald signed a similar six-year extension with the Los Angeles Rams worth $135 million that included $87 million in guaranteed money just a day before.

Mack will earn $23.5 million/year which is $1 million more than that of Donald.

Chicago Bears along with Mack will get 2020 second-round pick and a conditional 2020 fifth-round pick while Raiders will settle with a 2019 first-round pick, 2020 first-round pick, 2020 third-round pick and a 2019 sixth-round pick.

The No. 5 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft, Mack was named to the first-team All-Pro as outside linebacker and defensive end. He also won the defensive player of the year award in 2016.

The Bears will start their 2018/19 season playing against Green Bay Packers on September 6 at Lambeau Field.
