Khabib Nurmagomedov talks about his AKA teammate Daniel Cormier’s Defeat & Future MMA

Daniel Cormier's future after his loss to Stipe Miocic last month has been widely discussed. While some people think, Cormier should end his career there are several people think DC still has alot to give in the UFC.

And among the latter is his AKA teammate and lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagmedov.

The Eagle believes his friend and former heavyweight champion will return to fight Miocic for the third time.

“When DC loses, it was a very sad moment for us,” Nurmagomedov said. “Same time, Cain Velasquez lost his mother and after a couple of days, DC lost his father. It was a little bit hard week for all AKA team but it is what it is. When God wants something, nobody can change this. Losing the belt is nothing when you lose your father or mother. When you lose a belt, of course, DC is sad but when you lose your father, it’s completely different."

Khabib said when asked to comment on Cormier’s loss and future ahead of his fight against Dustin Poirier next weekend at UFC 242.

“We feel bad for him but we know how DC is a competitor, how DC is strong. I want to wish him good luck. We just talked with him a couple of days ago. We talked with him about my fight, we talk about his fight, about his father, but I just try to give him good energy…”

“I really want him to fight with Stipe Miocic rematch and finish his career,” Nurmagomedov said. “This is what I want. “I don’t know about his plan but honestly I want him to fight maybe February or March, fight with him last fight and then finish.”

The Russian Eagle added.

Interesting and moving comments from Khabib. Now it will be interesting to see if Cormier does decide to return for a rubber match with Miocic. If he decides he wants to, there’s no question the UFC will be on board.
