He finished his collegiate career at the North Carolina Tar Heels and was selected by Sacramento in the first round of the 1987 NBA draft with the sixth overall pick. During his playing stint (1987-1997), he played for the Sacramento Kings, Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, and Denver Nuggets.

Following his divorce from Reavis, Smith met Gwendolyn Osborne, an English model at a charity event in 2004. The couple exchanged vows on 8th September 2006. Later, two years the couple welcomed their first child, a son Malloy and their daughter, London, who was born in 2012.

Kenny Smith was born to Annie Mae Smith and grew up in LeFrak City. Smith enrolled at Archbishop Molloy High School, where he was named Mcdonald's All-American. Upon graduation, he attended the University of North Carolina.

Kenny Smith's Profesional Career

Kenny started playing football in High School. He was part of the High School Basketball team. The player was named into the McDonald's All-Ameican in 1983. After graduating from High School, Kenny enrolled at the University of North Carolina. Lewis averaged 30.9 points per game and was a First Team Division II All-American as a senior at South Carolina State. In his first year, Smith averaged 9.1 points and 5.0 assists per game.

 

After graduating in 1987, Kenny listed his name for the NBA draft. Sacramento Kings drafted him as the sixth pick. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team averaging 13.8 points and 7.1 assists per game for the Kings. After playing with the Kings for three seasons, He got traded to Houston Rockets. Smith averaged 17.7 points per game while leading the Rockets in assists per game in the first season. Smith was part of the 1994 NBA championship-winning team. The following year, The team defended the title. 

After two NBA Championship, Kenny moved to Detroit Pistons but was shortly waived. He eventually announced his retirement in 1997. 

International Career and Medals

Kenny earned his call in the 1986 FIBA World Championship. He had a decent time with the club and was second on the team in scoring behind Charles Smith. The team eventually won Gold Medal in the final. 

After Retirement As NBA Player

In 1998, Smith joined Turner Sports, working as a studio analyst for the end of the NBA regular season and the playoffs. Further, he works with Shaquille O'Neal, Ernie Johnson Jr., and Charles Barkley on Inside the NBA.

On the August 26, 2020 edition of Inside the NBA, Smith left the set as a show of solidarity with the six teams which elected to boycott the day's games in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake.
