The Indiana Fever drafted Schumacher at her 23 in the first round with a 14th overall in the 2001 WNBA draft on April 20, 2001. On July 23, 2003, she set a pro-career-highs of 22 points and nine rebounds in an 81-57 victory against San Antonio. For the team, she has played over 159 games than any player in Fever history.
On February 23, 2006, Schumacher was traded to the New York Liberty and then to the Phoenix Mercury before the 2007 season.
After the 2009 season, she took retirement from WNBA, returning as a coach as of 2019.
