Justin Pugh is an American football offensive guard who currently plays for the Arizona Cardinals of the NFL. He was drafted by the New York Giants in the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent five seasons with the Giants before signing a five-year, $45 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals on Mach 17, 2018.

Early Life of Justin Pugh

Justin David Pugh was born on August 15, 1990, in Holland, Pennsylvania. He is the son of Carolyn Gavaghan and David Pugh. He joined the Council Rock High School where he started playing high school football.

He was the 2008 Pennsylvania Football News All-State Secon Team for defense. He was the 2008 team MVP and defensive player of the year as a team captain.

After completing high school, Pugh attended Syracuse University and began playing college football for the Syracuse Orange football team from 2009 to 2012. In his collegiate career, he started in 34 games and earned All-Big East Conference honors in three consecutive seasons.

Professional Life of Justin Pugh

Justin Pugh entered the 2013 NFL Draft where he was picked in the first round as 19th overall by the New York Giants. Pugh signed a four-year, $8.34 million contract including $7.96 million guaranteed and a signing bonus of $4.44 million with the Giants on July 25, 2013.

The head coach of the Giants Tom Coughlin announced Justin Pugh as the starting right tackle over David Diehl who was also competing for the position. His debut with the team was in the season-opening match against the Dallas Cowboys which ended in a loss of 36-31 for the Giants. Pugh's rookie season was off to a rough start and he struggled for the first half of the season but managed to improve his stats in the second half.

Pugh continued as the starting right tackle in the 2014 season as well. He started in 14 games of the season but missed the last two games due to a quad injury he had suffered.

In the 2015 season, the Giants acquired Marshall Newhouse and named him the starting right tackle which ended in Justin Pugh to be moved to the position of starting left guard. pugh played in 14 games of the season and missed two games due to a concussion. He was well suited for the position and was given high grades being ranked the fifth among all offensive guards in performance grades.

The New York Giants picked the fifth-year, $8.8 million option on Pugh's rookie contract on April 26, 2016. Pugh played in 11 games during the season and was ranked as the top offensive left the guard in the league by pro football after his first nine games. Pugh missed the games from week 10 to week 14 games due to a sprained MCL.

He missed the remaining games due to a back injury and was placed on injured reserve on December 14, 2017. pugh left the Giants after the end of the 2017 season and signed a five-year, $45 million contract with the Arizona Cardinals on March 17, 2018.
